Progress

Dog Waste Bins

4 x Dog Waste Bins have been purchased. These have been installed at either end of Scrayingham and Leppington villages. A further dog bin is due to be ordered for the middle of Scrayingham village. Posters to promote their use have been put up on signs throughout the villages.

15m Broadband Mast

Plans for 15m broadband mast to be installed in Scrayingham by Quickline Broadband for 5G connectivity has been stopped. There are no further plans for this to go ahead in the near future.

Flooding Scrayingham

Improvement works have been undertaken to resolve the flooding and river discharge issues in the village. Thanks to Yorkshire Water, Duffy Construction, North Yorkshire Council, and George Winn-Darley for helping to make this happen, and to all residents for their patience during the works.

First Aid Training

First Aid Training courses have been delivered annually and well received. A First Aid and Defibrillator training course will be scheduled in the new year. Please let us know if you are interested in attending. It will be free of charge to residents of Scrayingham and Leppington.

Hedges and Grounds Maintenance

As requested by villagers, the verges on entry/ exit to both villages have now been cut/ topped to provide better visibility for road users. Unfortunately, this is no longer something that is carried out by NYCC, but we feel it necessary for safety, so has been funded by the PC.

The church yard, schoolhouse, and grounds around assets such as dog bins are being kept tidy. Thank you to villagers and Parish Councillors that are helping with this.

ECO Study

A government funded ECO study (Green Energy Initiative) has been carried out in Leppington, but deemed not economically viable.

Highways

The Parish Council and Highways continually inspect the condition of the roads and recent works have been carried out to fill in pot holes in to and out of Scrayingham on 10th May 2024. Highways will carry out another inspection now that the bridge works are complete at Stamford Bridge.

Bench Scrayingham

We have now received the license for the bench purchased under the S106 grant to be placed beside the pond in Scrayingham. This will be put in place when weather permits, although may be delayed due to drainage works.

Gritting Leppington

Leppington no longer falls on a grit truck route but for the safety of residents there, the PC have had delivered some grit/ salt for use on the roads there in icy conditions.

2 new benches at Leppington

The old wooden bench in Leppington was in a poor state, so we have replaced this with 2 new plaswood benches, siting one in the middle of the village and one on entry. We hope that villagers will enjoy these.

Graffiti, Signs in Buttercrambe

Many of you will notice that there was an act of vandalism to signs in Buttercrambe  with bright spray paint. NY Council have confirmed that there is a work order in place to clean up the Dolegate and Buttercrambe signs again.

Signs Dolegate

The broken signs on the junction of Dolegate and Lowfield lane have been reinstated. They have also been placed higher on the pole, to hopefully improve visibility. It has been highlighted to Highways that the Malton sign appears to be missing when travelling in the Buttercrambe to Malton direction. They are going to look into this.

Schoolhouse, Scrayingham

Following the news that the Schoolhouse will most likely be sold in the near future in order for the Church to release funds, Scrayingham Parish Council performed a feasibility study to see whether they could purchase the property for village use. Unfortunately, the figures/ benefits don't go in favour, so the the decision has been made not to go ahead. Scrayingham Parish Council will continue to assist and input into plans to turn the back of the back of the church into a community hub.

Dolegate Drainage/ Road Closure

Dolegate is to be closed for 3 weeks from 27th August for works to be carried out. Residents are to be sent a letter to notify them of this formally including details of the diversions that are to be put in place.
